Role Summary: After the cafe closes, our patio gets converted into The Lounge for the evening. The Lounge Server is responsible for creating a cool and inviting atmosphere. In this position you be the face of our restaurant, as well as responsible for our customers' experiences with our brand. The Server takes pride in making sure that the customer is well taken care of and delivers a quality of service that reflects the caliber of establishment that is Jack & Stella, and The Lounge. They will work alongside the kitchen and bar staff, and closely with the head chef Matt, to ensure quality customer service, and customer satisfaction/ retention. You are responsible for taking and delivering food and drink orders, and handling payment transaction in a timely manner. You are required to have a thorough knowledge of our beer, wine, signature cocktails and food menu to be able to discuss with guests and make recommendations.

Responsibilities: 

Quality Control 

• Ensure tables are clean and tidy when guests arrive, resetting tables throughout the shift/ for future diners.
• Keep on top of tables and make sure orders are taken and served in a timely manner.
• During downtime, prepare roll-ups and other necessary materials for the role.
• Memorizing food, wine list to accurately answer questions and make recommendations.

Customer Service 

• Greet every customer!
• Be quick on your feet, with a polite and friendly attitude.
• Have thorough knowledge of our food and drink menu items in order to present recommendations and drink pairings for guests.
• Answer questions about our events as well as some of our home goods.
• Collaborate with bar and kitchen staff to ensure ideal flow and teamwork.
• Deal with complaints or problems with a positive manner.
• Take pride in being the centrepiece of the Lounge.
• Handle payment transactions in a timely manner.

Inventory Management 

• Replenish any items needed for the position including roll ups, water jugs, napkins, etc.

Opening/Closing

• Opening duties: Set up for dinner service, performing opening tasks for The Lounge as directed.
• Maintain a clean and tidy workspace throughout, especially during close/open.
• Closing duties: Clean up and tidy after service, performing closing duties as directed.

Requirements:

• Previous Serving experience considered a strong asset.
• 1-2 years of previous experience is considered an asset.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Cash handling experience required, including the use of point of sales systems.
• Food Handling certification required.
• Ontario Smart Serve certification is required.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to adhere to all Jack & Stella operating policies and programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as a team.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Responsible, clean, patient, and customer-oriented, and trustworthy.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift or move objects up to 25lbs.
• Knowledge in wines is considered an asset.

Schedule:

Days: 3-4 days per week 

Hours: Up to 25 hours 

Shifts: 5:00PM-10:00PM, 4:00PM- 10:00PM**

Compensation:

$17.20/hour + a percentage of tips based on overall daily sales from each shift.

Contract:

May/ June start- September 1 end. 

Depending on your position, your start day will range from May 16th to no later than June 24th.

We ask that all Jack & Stella crew do their best to commit to staying for Labour Day weekend. 

Jack & Stella also stays open until the Cranberry Festival in Bala (weekend after Thanksgiving) with modified hours. In your application, please note if you are able to work additional hours in the fall.
