Full Time - Jack of all Trades

Role Summary: The Full Time Jack of all Trades position is an integral role to the success of Jack & Stella with flexibility being at the forefront. This role is responsible for the coverage of the Cafe throughout the day; assisting in whatever is needed to provide an amazing experience for our patrons. Specifically, this role focuses on the cleanliness of the cafe and maintaining the stores facade throughout the busy summer days. Doing dishes, bussing tables, managing waste, maintaining cleanliness of the back patio and bathrooms, keeping a clean work station, and assisting the kitchen staff with restocking is the focus of this role. You will collaborate with the kitchen teams to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities: 

Quality Control 

  • Working effectively with the kitchen team and complying with company procedures and food handling/ safety policies.
  • maintaining cleanliness of the cafe, bathrooms and back patio
  • assisting with restocks
  • doing dishes to keep the flow of the kitchen steady and efficient
  • bussing tables for guests promptly, and effectively 
  • anticipating needs of the kitchen crew to keep them stocked
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and tidy back patio.
  • Assist with other daily tasks – take initiative to help where needed during downtime.

Customer Service 

  • Greet all customers that arrive at Jack & Stella – specifically those arriving by boat and assist them with docking.
  • Be quick on your feet, with a polite and friendly attitude.
  • Deliver food and drinks to customers on the patio in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Take pride in being an integral part of the Jack & Stella experience.
  • Clean/ bus and reset tables for future customers.
  • Have thorough knowledge of our menu items, as well as Jack & Stella events!

Opening/Closing 

  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, especially during close/ open.
  • Removing trash and clearing storage bins.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as outlined.


Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to adhere to all Jack & Stella operating policies and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as a team.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift or move objects up to 25lbs.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Food Handling certification is an asset.
  • Previous restaurant or coffee shop experience considered an asset.
  • Previous maintenance experience considered an asset.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to do physical labor for extended periods.
  • Flexible and willing to perform many different tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment


Schedule:

Days: 5-6 days per week 

Hours: Up to 40 hours maximum 

Shifts: 9:00am-3:30PM, 9:30-4:00PM**


Compensation:

$17.60/hour + a percentage of tips based on overall daily sales from each shift.


Contract:

Anytime (tentative)- September 7th end. 

Depending on your position, your start day will range from May 16th to no later than June 26th.


We ask that all Jack & Stella crew do their best to commit to staying for Labour Day weekend. 

Jack & Stella also stays open until the Cranberry Festival in Bala (weekend after Thanksgiving) with modified hours. In your application, please note if you are able to work additional hours in the fall.
