Part Time - The Lounge: Host

Role Summary: 

The Lounge is an integral part of the Jack & Stella experience and we're looking for someone to enhance this experience for our customers. The host is the first contact of people looking to dine with us and we are seeking an energetic, friendly, and reliable Host / Food Runner to join our summer lounge team. This dual-role position is essential to creating a welcoming first impression for our guests while ensuring food is delivered quickly, accurately, and with excellent presentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a collaborative hospitality team.


Responsibilities:

Quality Control

  • Working effectively with the kitchen team and complying with company procedures and food handling/ safety policies.
  • Running drinks and food to the proper guests and making sure communication is kept ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and tidy back patio.
  • Ensure our hosing software is up to date at all times regarding reservations
  • Manage reservations and walk in customers with care and consideration, making sure to seat them in a timely manner

Customer Service

  • Clean/ bus and reset tables for future customers.
  • Greet guests promptly and warmly upon arrival

  • Manage reservations and walk-in seating efficiently
  • Maintain an organized waitlist and provide accurate wait times
  • Escort guests to tables and present menus
  • Answer guest questions about menu items, specials, and lounge policies
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area
  • Communicate clearly with servers and management regarding table status

Opening/Closing

  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, especially during close/ open.
  • Removing trash and clearing storage bins.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as outlined.


Requirements:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to adhere to all Jack & Stella operating policies and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as a team.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift or move objects up to 25lbs.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Food Handling certification is an asset.
  • Previous restaurant or coffee shop experience considered an asset.
  • Previous maintenance experience considered an asset.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to do physical labor for extended periods.
  • Flexible and willing to perform many different tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

Schedule:

Days: 3-5 days per week**

Hours: Up to 25 hours maximum

Shifts: vary within our opening hours of 5pm-10pm 


Compensation:

$17.60/hour + a percentage of tips based on overall daily sales from each shift.


Contract:

End June start- September 7th end.


**NOTE: Jack & Stella reserves the right to modify shifts slightly, subject to what is needed and weather dependant.


We require that all Crew members give us their utmost commitment to staying for Labour Day weekend.

Jack & Stella stays open until the Cranberry Festival (mid-October) with modified hours. In your application, you can note if you are able to work additional hours into the fall.
