Full Time - Café: Barista

Role Summary: The Barista is responsible for making all our delicious coffees and other café beverages. The Barista takes pride in mastering the art of making coffee and connects with the customers as they make their drinks. They work closely alongside the Customer Service Representative to ensure quality service by relaying drink orders and preparing beverages in a timely fashion. When you are not busy making drinks, you are helping with taking food orders and handling payment transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Greet all customers as they arrive at Jack & Stella
• Have thorough knowledge of our food and drink menu items, as well as our retail goods
• Create drinks with care and enthusiasm for all customers
• Take pride in being the centerpiece of the café
• During downtime work on mastering your craft
• Handle payment transactions in a timely manner
• Maintain a clean and tidy workspace
• Properly handle and maintain all café equipment- specifically taking very good care of the coffee machine by carefully cleaning & calibrating daily
• Replenish coffee, food, syrups and other supplies when needed – report inventory and inform management when stock is low
• Perform opening and closing procedures as required – proper cleaning of the coffee station
• Deliver drinks out to the patio and connect with customers during downtime

Requirements:

• Previous Barista experience considered a requirement 
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Cash handling experience required, including the use of point of sales systems
• Food Handling certification required
• Ontario Smart Serve certification is an asset
• Must possess excellent customer service skills
• Must be able to adhere to all Jack & Stella operating policies and programs
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Flexible and willing to perform many different tasks
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift or move objects up to 25lbs

Schedule:

Days: 5-6 days/ week

Hours: Up to 40 hours (full time)

NOTE: Jack & Stella reserves the right to modify shifts slightly, subject to what is needed and weather dependant.

Compensation:

$17.60 hour + a percentage of tips based on overall daily sales from each shift.

Contract:

Mid May start- September 7th end.

We require that all Crew members give us their utmost commitment to staying for Labour Day weekend.

Jack & Stella stays open until the Cranberry Festival (mid-October) with modified hours. In your application, you can note if you are able to work additional hours into the fall.
